Director, Joanna Pullan, was Architectural Lead for the redevelopment of this Victorian Villa.

When the current owners purchased Birchholme, it had formerly been a care home and had fallen into a state of severe disrepair having stood empty for 8 years.

Proposals were developed to make the house suitable for modern family living. This included the demolition of a single storey recent addition and replacement with a traditional style orangery to create a family living kitchen area.

Further proposals included a 40m basement pool extension which woudl open out entirely to the garden. This would have pool, gym, sauna and spa facilities in addition to a garden living space.

Significant works were carried out internally to redevelop the derelict floors into 8 bedrooms and modern bathrooms.

Joanna proposed that the first floor was removed from one of the ground floor rooms which was dark and oppressive; this created a wonderfully bright double height library space with floor to ceiling book shelves.
